Challenge: Transform a basic financial health measurement tool into a B2B SaaS platform delivering actionable business insights to financial institutions.

 

The Challenge

When I joined Attune, financial institutions were collecting extensive financial health data but struggling to convert it into business value. The measurement tool was data-rich but insight-poor, offering basic aggregated metrics without clear business applications.

 

Research Process

I designed a multi-layered research approach to bridge the gap between financial health data and business outcomes:

  1. Mapped the research opportunity space by identifying core questions about who was being measured, why, and how insights connected to business strategies.

  2. Conducted 360° stakeholder research to understand diverse perspectives around financial health data, including product users, executive champions, and buyers.

  3. Established an iterative, collaborative process that brought design and engineering leaders directly into client sessions, creating shared understanding across teams.

 

Key Insights

My research uncovered a critical insight: organizations couldn't translate financial health data into strategic action. Without clear business connections, financial health remained a mission objective without demonstrating ROI.

This led to our transformative approach:

  • Before: Basic measurement dashboard showing aggregate scores

  • After: Strategic business tool with segmentation, benchmarking, and actionable insights

I guided the platform's evolution through research-driven feature development:

 

The result was a platform that transformed measurement into action, helping clients:

  • Identify specific financial health needs among customer segments

  • Develop targeted products addressing those needs

  • Measure the business impact of financial health initiatives

  • Serving 36 organizations, including 19 paying B2B customers

  • Secured venture funding based on proven market value

  • Successfully transitioned from non-profit to sustainable business
